Dhurandhar 2 vs Toxic: Will Yash Regret Like Prashanth Neel?

Dhurandhar 2 Toxic box office clash

Ever since Dhurandhar 2 The Revenge announced its release for Eid 2026, there has been constant discussion about its box office clash with Yash’s much-awaited film Toxic A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups. Despite regular rumors suggesting that Toxic might get postponed, Yash has firmly stuck to the March 19 release date, setting the stage for one of the biggest box office clashes in recent times.

Trade circles have been asking a simple question. Why has Yash not moved his film, especially when Dhurandhar 2 is generating stronger buzz in the Hindi belt. According to a report by Variety India, the answer lies in confidence, not ego. Yash is said to be thinking like a businessman rather than reacting emotionally. He strongly believes in Toxic’s content and is focusing on a long theatrical run instead of chasing record breaking opening numbers. The thinking is clear. If the film connects with audiences, it will sustain well beyond the first weekend.

Toxic was officially announced back in December 2023, and Yash’s fans have been waiting for nearly three years to see him on screen again. Backing out now would mean disappointing them. Adding to the tension, sources say Yash was upset that the makers of Dhurandhar 2 did not inform him about their Eid release plans, despite knowing that Toxic had already locked the date. He reportedly feels that such courtesy and communication, which are common in South Indian industries, are often missing in the Hindi film industry.

With both films now locked for the same date, the Eid weekend promises a fierce box office battle. The Hindi markets are currently leaning toward Dhurandhar 2 due to the strong recall of its first part. Toxic is expected to dominate mainly in Kannada, but even there Dhurandhar 2 might give the film a tough fight.

That said, history shows that clashes often do not end well for one side. Many filmmakers have spoken confidently before release, only to later admit regret if the clash hurt collections. A recent example was the Dunki vs Salaar clash. After that release, director Prashanth Neel openly said he regretted clashing with a Shah Rukh Khan film, acknowledging that it affected both movies’ collections. Now it remains to be seen whether Yash’s confidence delivers strong results or whether he will also regret clashing with a giant like Dhurandhar 2.
