Two films are set to release tomorrow, Dhurandhar 2 and Ustaad Bhagat Singh. While Ustaad Bhagat Singh is a Telugu action film starring Pawan Kalyan, Dhurandhar 2 is a Hindi film led by Ranveer Singh.
This may not be a direct clash in Telugu states due to language and nativity differences. However, Dhurandhar 2 carries a strong cinematic appeal and has generated interest among audiences.
The first part of Dhurandhar received a decent response from viewers. It also gained traction on OTT, which has helped build anticipation for the sequel.
However, one major concern is the film’s runtime. Dhurandhar 2 is reportedly close to four hours long, which may test the patience of theatre audiences.
Long films have worked before in Telugu states. Animal, with a runtime of over three hours, performed well due to its unique storytelling and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s brand.
In comparison, Dhurandhar 2 may face a different situation. Telugu audiences may not prefer such a lengthy film, especially during the Ugadi festive season.
This could work in favour of Ustaad Bhagat Singh. The film fits into the familiar commercial format associated with Harish Shankar and Pawan Kalyan.
The festive holiday advantage may also boost its initial performance. However, its long term success will depend on content and audience reception.
There could be a split among urban audiences, where Dhurandhar 2 may perform well. But in mass centres, Ustaad Bhagat Singh is likely to take the lead.
