There’s a saying, “Never sail on two boats or you are sure to be drowned.” But director Shankar seems to be sailing on three boats simultaneously.
Kamal Haasan will be next seen in the much-delayed movie Indian 2, directed by Shankar. He recently shared that they’ve finished filming not only Indian 2 but also its third part, Indian 3.
In an interview, the actor-director, who was last seen in the 2022 movie Vikram, said, “We’ve wrapped up shooting for Indian 2 and Indian 3. Right now, we’re busy with the final touches for Indian 2. Once that’s done, we’ll focus on post-production of Indian 3.”
As we all know Shankar is also simultaneously directing Game Changer with Ram Charan. That means Shankar is involved in making three films at a time, all of them being socio-political thrillers.
There was a time when Shankar’s brand of political-based dramas worked. But now in the age of social media, the chances of such films becoming successful are a bit less.
Unless extremely well made with hard-hitting screenplay and narration, such films don’t make much impact in the current scenario.
In such times, Shankar is coming up with three films that are not the same but belong to that zone of socio-political genre.
It will be intriguing to observe which of these films garners the most attention at the box office. Moreover, it remains to be seen whether today’s audience still resonates with Shankar’s style of storytelling when it comes to addressing social issues.
