Saif Ali Khan, at 53, underwent tricep surgery at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai due to an old injury flaring up while shooting an action sequence for NTR’s Devara. Known for his great performances in many Bollywood hits, his last being Adipurush with Kriti Sanon and Prabhas where he played the demon king Ravana.
However, what turned shocking was the morally wrong response on Twitter when a prominent news agency shared the news. A faction unleashed vile, communal, and disgusting comments against Saif Ali Khan. Some wished him death, attributing it to divine retribution after the Ram Mandir inauguration.
Others insinuated that Adipurush’s Ravana was hospitalized on the day of Ram’s homecoming, suggesting him as the first casualty post the temple inauguration. A bigot went so far as to connect “Mughal descendants” being hospitalized to Hindu resurgence.
The evident hatred directed at Saif solely based on his religious background exposes a disturbing mindset. The sickening comments underlined a prevalent faction of the population filled with bigotry and animosity.
