It is a custom for NRI grooms of North Indian families to wear garlands made of dollars when they come down to the wedding venues. Special shops have come up in Old City of Hyderabad who prepare such garlands and they are in high demand in recent years.
This custom is mostly prevalent in Punjabi families and off late non-Punjabi families are also using these garlands. In most cases the clients bring the dollars to be used in garlands and these shops charge a standard fee for embedding them in to garlands. They charge some where from 50 to 2000 for preparing these garlands.
