Political differences often dominate election campaigns, but natural disasters demand a different approach. Andhra Pradesh is currently dealing with the massive destruction caused by Cyclone Arnab, with the government estimating losses at ₹4,563 crore.
Amid the crisis, Tamil Nadu has come forward to support Andhra Pradesh at the request of the state government. AP Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar spoke to his Tamil Nadu counterpart and sought additional electricity department personnel and equipment to speed up power restoration.
What makes this development noteworthy is the political backdrop. The AP ruling coalition had campaigned against Vijay, but when the state needed assistance, the response from Tamil Nadu was positive. Instead of allowing political differences to stand in the way, the government expressed its willingness to extend help.
Telangana has also sent electricity personnel to assist with restoration work in cyclone-hit areas. With several parts of Konaseema still facing power disruptions, support from neighbouring states is expected to accelerate recovery.
The message is simple. Political rivalry may be part of elections, but disaster relief must rise above it. When people are suffering, cooperation matters more than political differences.
