Rajkumar Hirani has a reputation for delivering four consecutive classics and hit biopic without facing a single flop. He returns with ‘Dunki,’ starring the long-awaited Shah Rukh Khan.
While the intial talk may not be extremely disappointing, ground reports and online reviews suggest that the movie falls short of expectations for a combo like Hirani-SRK.
There were doubts until this morning about Hirani delivering another classic that could impact Salaar’s Hindi prospects. However, that fear has now gone. Dunki may perform decently in Hindi, but it is impossible that Hirani’s film will bulldoze Prashanth Neel’s Salaar.
Here’s the catch: Salaar still needs to prove its worth and start with super-hit to blockbuster talk to justify the buyers’ stakes.
While Dunki no longer poses a threat, Salaar still needs to deliver big, to become a big film.
