The second wave of Coronavirus is troubling the entire country right now. Several states have already announced night curfews and weekend lockdowns. The High Court of Telangana has now ordered the government to do the same in the state and gave the government 48 hours to make a decision. If the government fails to do so, the HC said that it would take matters into its hands.
If night curfews or weekend lockdowns are implemented in Telangana, it would seriously affect Tollywood. Even though there are no big releases scheduled in the upcoming weeks, collections of the small films that are scheduled to release would greatly be affected.
Night curfews and weekend lockdowns would crucially impact evening and night shows, and collections on the weekends would cease to exist altogether. This would be a huge loss for the producers of the film. Whether the government decides on a night curfew or a weekend lockdown, either of those decisions would seriously impact Tollywood.
Whatever the government’s decision will be, it will be a loss for Tollywood either way. It is now to be seen what the filmmakers will decide to do.
