Rishab Shetty as Shivaji Maharaj

In a recent announcement taking the internet by surprise, National Award-winning actor Rishab Shetty has been announced as the lead actor in ‘The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’, scheduled for release on January 21, 2027.

While the choice of Rishab as Shivaji Maharaj is garnering significant praise, the mood of the public differs when it comes to Sandeep Singh, the project’s director.

Sandeep Singh is receiving widespread criticism for his involvement in the film, with social media users holding him accountable by citing his previous megaflops.

The director has a suicidal track record of production and ghost direction of films like ‘PM Narendra Modi’, ‘Mai Atal Hoon’, and ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’, all of which turned out to be commercial as well as critical disasters.

His OTT endeavour with ‘Safed’ also turned out to bite him backwards as the film was very poorly received and thrashed by the viewers.

It is this spotted and catastrophic track record that raises doubts about his ability to direct a project of such magnitude.

Users on social media seem to have given their verdict, with most of them calling it an unfortunate combination of a fantastic actor and a super-flop director.

It will be interesting to see whether Rishab Shetty’s acting capabilities can turn the film around from its doomed path, as it gears up for release in 2027.
