Fans: Chiru Annayya Don’t Do This

Bhola ShankarBhola Shankar is Megastar’s next film, all set to release on 11th August. It is an official remake of the 2015 Tamil film Vedalam, and Meher Ramesh is returning as the director after a decade (2013 Shadow).

The recently released trailer of Bhola Shankar has sparked an online debate for various reasons.

Setting aside opinions on the trailer, a serious debate is ongoing regarding whether a star like Chiranjeevi needs imitation references to other heroes in his films.

In the trailer, there is a dialogue where Tamannaah says, “Rangasthalam lo Ram Charan babu laa act chestunnadraa.” Additionally, he is seen imitating Pawan Kalyan’s mannerisms, which did not sit well with a section of Megastar fans.

They believe that Chiranjeevi himself should be the reference for the current generation of stars and audiences, and he should refrain from imitating others, even if it’s just a few scenes to garner visils in theaters.

This section of Mega fans is unhappy with Chiru’s movie choices since his comeback.

They feel that movies like God Father, Waltair Veerayya, and Bhola Shankar leave an impression on the current generation, who may not know Chiru’s prime-time quality entertainers and instead remember him for these cringe max and mediocre comedy films.

They also point out director Meher Ramesh for including such scenes. Netizens are trolling certain dialogues in the trailer that even sounded outdated a decade ago (లేదు అంకుల్, యాపిలీస్ కాయ తింటున్నాను). Chiru’s comedy style might have worked in the 90s, but these directors seem stuck and unable to envision the megastar up to current standards.

Their point is straightforward: Megastar has experienced it all, and they want him to work on selective projects that earn him respect at this stage of his career, without relying on referencing other heroes because he is the reference for others, they argue.
