The upcoming cinematic collaboration between Jr NTR and director Trivikram Srinivas has been made official, marking a significant project for the Telugu film industry.
Moving past months of social media rumours, the makers have released the concept poster and title for their movie, God of War. Following their previous 2018 hit Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava, this announcement signals Trivikram’s largest scale attempt yet at a pan-Indian mythological film.
The announcement outlines a narrative focused on themes surrounding the commander of the gods and the son of Lord Shiva. The initial concept visual highlights a massive trident that merges into a DNA helix structure at its peak, indicating a story that connects ancient mythology with scientific or genetic elements.
The imagery is backed by the taglines, “One Spear. One Purpose. One Divine Reckoning,” along with a Sanskrit sloka set over a background of historic temples and marching armies.
Industry insiders suggest that God of War will feature Jr NTR in a powerful character inspired by Lord Murugan, also referred to as Kumaraswamy or Shanmukhudu.
While Trivikram is widely known for his family dramas, heavy dialogue writing, and localised humor, this project offers him a massive, visual-effects-driven canvas to test his storytelling on a broader national scale.
For Jr NTR, the film marks a return to the mythological genre, a space where he earned significant praise early in his acting career.
An interesting angle to this project is the return of Anirudh Ravichander as the music composer. This reunites Trivikram and Anirudh for the first time since the 2018 film Agnyaathavaasi. That specific project faced a lot of negative press due to script plagiarism controversies and a major failure at the box office, making this new collaboration a major redemption arc for the duo.
Given Anirudh’s strong form in Telugu cinema right now and his cultural familiarity with Murugan devotionals, the trade is paying close attention to how he handles the music for this massive canvas.
The film is being produced on a large budget by Haarika & Hassine Creations alongside NTR Arts.
Actual filming for God of War will take some time to begin, as Jr NTR is currently busy shooting for Prashanth Neel’s action film Dragon, which is aiming for a mid-2027 release. Production will begin in phases once both the actor and director clear their current movie schedules.
