“Hero Can Wear Jacket, We Can’t Even Take a Shawl”

Shruti HaasanA few months ago, the casting of Shruti Haasan opposite male actors nearly twice her age was heavily criticized.

Recently while speaking to a Tamil media house, Shruti complained about dancing in the snow in a saree and blouse without any shawl or jacket. She said while the hero gets to wear a jacket, boots, gloves, etc, the heroine has to slog it out in the snow in a revealing saree to add glamor, which is quite hard. She added that she would like to make a petition that such shoots are stopped.

A clip from this interaction is making rounds on social media. Mega fans took the comment personally and got offended as Shruti was seen in Waltair Veerayya alongside Chiranjeevi and they assumed that the song she was referring to was “Nuvvu Sitavaithe Nenu Ramudinautha.”

One Mega fan hit out at her saying, “When a superstar who is above 60 and all the crew could shoot in the snow, what’s her problem? She is taking crores of rupees per film. If she cannot do it, then she must look for a job from home.”

Some trolled her for charging crores for just 15 minutes role. Some called her unprofessional.

However, actors get to work in harsh conditions and one cannot completely ignore the point Shruti Haasan was trying to make. But again, the film aesthetics call for certain time-tested sequences due to which filmmakers choose to shoot certain songs a certain way!
