HHVM: Did Pawan Kalyan Just Revive the Buzz?

Hari Hara Veera Mallu

Ahead of the release of his long-delayed period drama Hari Hara Veera Mallu, Pawan Kalyan made a rare public appearance in Hyderabad.

Known for staying away from film promotions, the actor-politician used this press meet to thank his team and speak honestly about the challenges faced during production.

Fans were thrilled to see him as a Telugu film star once again, rather than as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

The film will have special premieres on July 23. Until recently, the buzz around the film was low.

However, the trailer, interviews with Nidhhi Agerwal, and insights shared by producer AM Rathnam and director Jyothi Krishna have pushed expectations higher. Pawan Kalyan’s candid press meet added to the growing hype.

The climax of Hari Hara Veera Mallu is said to be a highlight. It includes a 20-minute action sequence showcasing Pawan Kalyan’s martial arts skills. This sequence alone was filmed with Pawan Kalyan over 57 days in harsh conditions.

Producer A M Rathnam has planned multiple premieres to build momentum. The movie is expected to dominate the box office, especially since Tollywood has not seen a major blockbuster since Pushpa 2.

Reports suggest that 80–90% of theaters across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will screen the film. In Uttarandhra, 135 of 150 theaters are booked for the release weekend.

Multiplexes will still run films like F1, Superman, and Saiyaara, but the majority of shows will go to Pawan’s film.

Smaller films like Junior, which released last week, are already losing momentum and will vacate theaters before Hari Hara Veera Mallu arrives.

In major multiplexes, only a few screens will continue with Hollywood releases like F1, Superman, or Jurassic World, and Hindi films like Saiyaara. The majority of shows, however, will be allocated to Pawan Kalyan’s film.

With ticket prices increased, the opening day collections are projected to be massive. Neutral audiences were initially not so interested due to repeated delays and weak buzz, but Pawan’s heartfelt press meet has reignited some curiosity and hope.

If this renewed interest converts into strong advance bookings, Hari Hara Veera Mallu could finally deliver the big success Tollywood has been waiting for.
