Bollywood audiences have clearly shown that they have a liking for sequels. Not so long ago, it was KGF 2, the sequel for KGF which emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of all time in the Hindi belt.
Now, it is the case of Gadar 2 which is wrecking havoc at the box office. The Sunny Dheol starrer is a sequel for Gadar which in turn was a box office blockbuster. The sequel is now tipped to emerge as the highest earning film of all time in the Hindi belt of it can have a good second weekend. It has collected over Rs 200 crores nett in just 5 days.
Next in line is Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2. There’s no affirmative release plan for this film but whenever it releases, it could well be a gold mine for everyone involved.
Pushpa was a box office hit in the Hindi belt and later, after the OTT premiere, the film was a rage with the Pushpa mannerisms and the hook steps in songs catching fire on social media.
The reach for Pushpa 2 is going to be enormous. If the sequels trend and their box office reception is to go by, then the Allu Arjun starrer is in for a monstrous run in the Hindi belt and it can well rewrite many existing records.
Gadar 2 has only reinstated this trend and all eyes are on Pushpa 2 now. All Sukumar and Bunny will have to do is deliver a decent-to-winning product and the film will be on its course to wreck havoc.
