Taking a cue from Hyderabad, few Ganesh Pandals in Vijayawada are also going for Laddu auctions before the Ganesh Nimmajjanam. Given that the land rates in the city are skyrocketing after the capital announcement, the Laddus are likely to go for high rates. The auction concept was borrowed from Hyderabad since the last year.

Last year auction in Besant road fetched 36000 Rupees. This time similar auctions will be conducted at Krishnalanka, Penamaluru, One Town etc mostly on Sunday. In some pandals of the city, the Laddu is being auctioned every day during the nine days festival.
The winners would distribute laddu to their friends and well-wishers after performing puja and sprinkle it in the fields for a better crop. The money collected these auctions will be used to celebrate the festival on a grand note the next year. The famous Balapur Laddu in Hyderabad last year fetched 9.50 Lakhs.
