The Party Time drink culture in India seem to be turning more casual and more in to habit these days. The Paris-based Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in a study revealed that the alcohol intake in India increased by 55% in the last 20 years.

India ranks as 3rd in the countries who have highest alcohol consumption nation in the span of 20 years from 1992 – 2012. Only Russia and Estonia are ahead of our country. According to another study by the World Health Organization (WHO), about 30% of Indians consume alcohol, out of which 4-13% are daily consumers and 50% of these, fall under the category of hazardous drinking.
The study also revealed that alcohol is the fifth leading cause of death and disability, especially in the working age, all over the world. Besides harming their own health, drinkers also pose threat to others who fall victim of drink-and-drive cases, domestic violence, and anti-social behavior.
