Indian 2 was one of the craziest and most anticipated films in India when it began shooting. However, things look very much grim for Indian 2 right, with the film having been put on hold for a while now.
The shooting of Indian 2 was stopped last year after a major incident took place on the sets of the film. Post that, the shooting never resumed. A lot of reasons were cited as to why the shooting wasn’t resumed. With the shooting not resuming, Shankar decided to move on to other films.
Lyca Productions, which is producing Indian 2, then went to the Madras HC and filed a petition that Shankar should not be allowed to do any film until he wraps up Indian 2. In his response to this petition by Lyca, Shankar replied that Lyca had never shown any interest in resuming the shooting of Indian 2 and that Lyca kept him idle for two years, which is why he decided to move on. Sources also said that Indian 2 requires foreign crew, who are not able to travel to India due to Coronavirus, and that Kamal Haasan is also not so keen to get back on sets due to his recent surgery.
With the legal battle between Lyca and Shankar becoming a public one, and with a lot more at stake, it is now to be seen if Indian 2 will ever be revived or not.
