Indian-American director Aneesh Chaganty made waves with his first Hollywood directorial Searching. The film was a mystery thriller set till the end on computer screens and smartphones. The main plot of the film has a father trying to find his missing teenage daughter with the help of a police detective.
The film turned out to be a mainstream Hollywood thriller by an Asian-American actor and Indian-Telugu director that made headlines in the North American market by collecting $26 Million in the Domestic markets and $76 Million worldwide. Inspired by ‘Searching’ Fahadh Faasil came up with ‘C U Soon’ movie which went for a direct release on Prime but won decent appreciation.
Now, the team is back together, and they are making Searching 2 or Missing, as the title of the film goes.
Missing will be releasing in theatres on January 1, 2023, which will be an interesting choice for fans of Searching. Incidentally, the film is directed, edited, and produced by the producers and directors of Searching. This time Aneesh provided the story for ‘Missing’.
In Missing, the plot follows the travails of June, whose mother goes missing, and she uses all forms of technology to find her before it is too late. However, the deeper she digs, the more she realizes she barely knew her mother. Watch out for the thriller on January 1.
