We know who Ram Gopal Varma is. He is a maverick film maker who changed the course of Telugu Film Industry with his creative and shocking ideas. He is not only adept at film making but also at posting satires on Gods once in a while. Being an atheist, it isn’t a big surprise that he gets many doubts on the ways of worship and concept of God.
After Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha, his latest interest seems to be Lord Rama. He tweeted, “Who was great: Rama or Ravana?”, followed by another tweet, “Was Ravana who didn’t touch Sita greater or Rama greater, who doubted the very woman who Ravana himself seemed 2 have respected more than Rama?”
When we read this tweet, Telugu literature lovers would be reminded of Ranganayakamma who wrote a full book ‘Ramayana Vishavruksham’ in 3 parts in 1970s slamming Ramayana. This book created huge controversy and religious fundamentalists seriously attacked her book for questioning Lord Rama. Ranganayakamma attacked only Lord Rama but RGV isn’t leaving any God :-).
