Mohanlal is currently in the spotlight for his much-awaited Malayalam film L2: Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, which is set for a March 27 release.
However, amidst the buzz surrounding his film, speculation is rife about his involvement in Jailer 2, the highly anticipated sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2023 blockbuster.

In a recent interview with Cinema Vikatan, Mohanlal confirmed that he had received multiple offers from Tamil filmmakers but had to decline due to his commitments to L2: Empuraan and other projects.
However, when asked about Jailer 2, he dropped a big hint, saying, “Now Jailer 2 has started, I will join the film if they call me.”

This statement has fueled rumors that Mohanlal’s character, Mathew, could return for a more prominent role in the sequel. While an official confirmation is still awaited, his words suggest that discussions might already be in progress.
Mohanlal’s cameo in Jailer was short but impactful, adding to the film’s pan-Indian appeal. If he joins Jailer 2, it could lead to another major crossover between Malayalam and Tamil cinema, further elevating the film’s hype.
