As expected, the clash between Rajinikanth’s film “Jailer” and the Malayalam movie “Jailer” at the box office has been averted. The controversy arose due to the same title and release date.
However, the Malayalam film’s director, Sakkir Madathil, decided to release his movie on August 18 instead of August 10 as initially planned.
It is quite evident what his game plan was. He wanted to gain cheap publicity by creating controversy between his no-buzz movie and Superstar’s movie. In a way, he was successful in creating awareness about his film by pitching his movie against Rajnikanth’s film. Otherwise, no one would have known that such a film even existed.
After milking the maximum out of the controversy, he has now escaped by postponing his film to a much later date.
He is now seen making excuses that Kerala exhibitors were not giving screens to his film due to Rajinikanth’s movie. He says that he needed a 75-day window theatre screening for his film, but several exhibitors only want to give 42 days. Who in the right mind would give even a 42-day window for a small film like his?
