Superstar’s Safe Film, But Director Risking?

Jana Nayagan starring Thalapathy Vijay

It wasn’t long before Jana Nayagan, which has Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role was regarded as a stale and dead project. This was due to the fact that the film got delayed from the earlier Pongal release and there was a lot of uncertainty on it.

However, things changed drastically after Vijay became the chief minister of Tamil Nadu and subsequently this film has a lot going its way now.

The latest updates are suggesting that the film has completed the censor formalities, which had been the biggest concern for it before the release. This crucial step has finally been completed by the makers.

In this connection, we have something very interesting happening now as it is being said that the film has a runtime of more than three hours. This can be regarded as an unnecessary risk that is being taken by the director of the film H Vinoth.

As of now, not many things are expected from this film with regard to novel screenplay or presentation. Considering the hype games surrounding Vijay, even a normal commercial film will be sufficient.

If Vinoth had come up with a reasonable commercial product that has enough highs to entertain Vijay fans, it would’ve been sufficient. The safer option would have been to go for a runtime of around 2 hours and 30 minutes.

But it is evident that the director is confident about the content and he has gone for more than three hours narration. He appears to be in an attempt to present his history in a full scale manner rather than play to the strengths of Vijay and keep it safe.
