What began as a reported theft complaint at actor Jayam Ravi‘s Chennai residence has now turned into a much larger controversy.
According to reports, cash and jewellery were found missing from the house, leading to suspicion falling on two domestic workers and a minor boy. But the focus quickly shifted after allegations emerged that they were not being allowed to leave the premises.
Police reportedly intervened after receiving a complaint from a family member of one of the workers. Officials are said to have reminded those involved that theft allegations must be handled through legal channels and that no one can be privately detained or questioned.
At this point, both sides have made claims, and neither has been proven. Jayam Ravi has filed a complaint regarding the alleged theft, while the allegations surrounding the workers are also being looked into by police.
The episode has attracted extra attention because it comes at a time when Jayam Ravi is already in the headlines due to his ongoing divorce proceedings with Aarti Ravi.
For now, the facts are still being established. But the case serves as a reminder that even when theft is suspected, the law expects investigations to be left to the authorities.
What started as a missing valuables complaint has now become a controversy involving questions from both sides.
