Producer Cherry (Chiranjeevi) of Clap Entertainment teams up once again with actor Satya and director Ritesh Rana for the comedy thriller Jetlee, releasing on May 1st. The film is already carrying positive buzz, thanks to the strong response to its trailer and promotional content.
Cherry says Jetlee stands out for its fresh concept. “Nearly 80% of the film takes place on flights, which itself is a highly intriguing setup. No Telugu film has been designed like this before. Ritesh always brings unique stories, and this one hooked me right from the pitch. We share a strong bond; I look at him like my own son. He’s sincere, and most of his stories appeal to me. Working with him is always comfortable.”
He adds that he enjoys backing small-scale, experimental cinema. “From a production perspective, we choose low-risk stories like Mathu Vadalara, Happy Birthday, Meter, and now Jetlee. Even though Happy Birthday and Meter didn’t fully land in theaters, they delivered solid commercial returns.”
Satya’s role is said to be crafted in an unusual way. “Some scenes are hilariously tense and require actors with impeccable comic timing. When we narrated the script to Satya, he hesitated at first. But once Ritesh explained everything in detail, he came on board. Every character is given importance, and the action is entertaining with its cinematic liberties.”
Ritesh describes the film as a balanced entertainer. “It’s a proper comedy thriller where every laugh lands. Comedy needs a strong story to work- and Jetlee has a solid story along with unlimited laughs.”
With Satya and Ritesh’s combination already having delivered blockbusters, all eyes are now on how Jetlee will perform at the box office.
