If we observe the trends since Baahubali 2, the Hindi audience have been particularly receptive to well-made Telugu films. The tremendous success of RRR, Pushpa, and even Saaho has been a testament of the same.
Cut to now, the situation is such that a Telugu film has beat Bollywood’s highest-grosser of 2024. This happened today with Kalki beating Fighter in just two weekends.
Kalki is the highest grossing film in Hindi this year and it took just two weekends to beat the tally set by Fighter. With Rs 200 crore nett in Hindi, the Prabhas starrer has set this record.
Another point that must be noted here is that another box office monster from Telugu land, Pushpa 2 is in the offing for the Hindi folk.
There are a few reports that Pushpa 2 might stake its claim at the Hindi box office and might even become the highest grossing film of all time in the Hindi belt. There is still time to assess this trend though.
It wouldn’t be too big of a surprise if a Telugu film remains to be the highest grossing film of the year in the Hindi belt.
