BRS working president and former Telangana minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has reportedly filed a discharge petition in the Formula E race case before the ACB Special Court in Nampally, Hyderabad. He is seeking relief from the ongoing legal proceedings.
KTR has requested the court to discharge him from the case and remove his name from the chargesheet filed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). His petition seeks to prevent the case against him from proceeding to trial.
The ACB has named KTR as Accused No. 1 (A1) in the Formula E race case. The chargesheet has been filed before the court, and KTR has already appeared twice in connection with the proceedings.
According to the provided report, the discharge petition is expected to come up for hearing in November. However, the reported filing and November hearing date could not be independently confirmed. Earlier reports placed the next hearing in the main case on October 30, 2026.
A discharge petition allows an accused person to argue that the available evidence does not justify proceeding to trial. Filing such a petition does not mean the accused has been discharged or the case has been dismissed.
The ACB Special Court will examine the petition, hear the arguments and consider the available material before deciding whether KTR should face further proceedings in the Formula E race case.
