Kalki Hindi Day Two: Better Than Expectations?

Kalki 2898 AD Hindi

The Nag Ashwin-directed film Kalki 2898 AD, featuring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, has performed quite well in Hindi on its second day.

Early estimates suggest Friday’s collection is around Rs 19-20 crore, bringing the two-day total to around Rs 41 crore.

This sci-fi film has managed to hold its ground with a less than 10 percent drop in major national chains like PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis. However, mass belts have seen a dip of about 12 percent, which is normal.

There were speculations that the film would drop by a minimum of 20% but that hasn’t happened. So Kalki is holding up better than expected.

Kalki 2898 AD aims to collect another Rs 22 crore on Saturday and hopes to approach the Rs 30 crore mark on Sunday. Saturday’s growth might be limited due to the India vs. South Africa World Cup finals.

By the end of the four-day weekend, the film’s collection is projected to near Rs 90 crore. Ideally, the film should have touched the 100-crore mark in four days but 90 crore is also not bad.

Monday will be crucial for Kalki 2898 AD. If the film manages to collect in the double digits, it could indicate success in the Hindi markets, although there’s still a long way to go.

Globally, Kalki 2898 AD has made a significant impact, collecting Rs 170 crore on its opening day, making it the third biggest single-day collection for an Indian film, following Baahubali 2 and RRR.

On the second day, the film performed decently in Hyderabad and a few major centers in Andhra, though B and C centers in Coastal Andhra and Ceeded have reported lower numbers due to the film’s niche dystopian theme. In Tamil Nadu and Kerala, the film is holding up well on day two.
