SS Rajamouli’s RRR set an unprecedented record with a worldwide gross of 223 crores on its opening day, a feat that remains unmatched. Even Salaar, with its impressive performance, managed over 160 crores globally.
Initially, the promotional material and lack of buzz for Kalki 2898 AD led many to doubt it would cross 150 crores. However, as bookings opened, Prabhas’ star power became evident, driving phenomenal advance bookings across the board.
Even in the Hindi belt, the film’s advance bookings are much better than expected. The trailer seems to have caught the audience’s imagination, unlike what trade experts were thinking.
In the Telugu states, the response has been exceptional, with projected gross earnings of over 40 crores each from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, totaling a massive 80+ crores on the first day.
Karnataka is expected to contribute over 10 crores, while Kerala and Tamil Nadu are projected to bring in around 10 crores combined.
North India, a crucial market for Kalki 2898 AD, is expected to deliver an opening of approximately 25 crores gross.
Overall, the film is projected to gross around 125 crores across India on its first day, with an additional 60 crores expected from overseas markets. This puts the expected Day 1 total in the range of 185-190 crores.
If word of mouth is highly positive, Kalki 2898 AD could see strong spot bookings for night shows, potentially pushing its total beyond 200 crores and even challenging RRR’s 223 crore mark.
So Mission 223 Crores, which looked like an impossible dream, now is definitely On!
