The opening weekend box office performance has been astounding to say the least. Despite the low-key promotional campaign and non-massy approach, the film has succeeded in pulling the audience to theaters in big numbers.
Coming to the topic, the film has completed its opening weekend run at the box office and it has posted a very solid number of Rs 500+ crore global gross.
The film is largely benefited from the super positive run in the Hindi belt and the North American market. These are the major contributors apart from the conventionally strong Telugu states belt.
There is a surprisingly good contribution from the Kerala belt. Though the volume of Rs 12 crore gross might seem low, this is a good number for the Kerala market.
The film has gone past the $11M mark in the North American belt and the coveted Rs 100 crore nett mark in Hindi. Thanks to this overall push from all major markets, Kalki has gone past the Rs 500 crore mark comfortably in the opening weekend itself.
Coming to the bigger picture of Rs 1000 crore mark, a lot will depend on the second-weekend run of the film. If the momentum is held in the Hindi belt, USA, and Telugu states, then this figure could actually be a possibility. We will get a better projection once the second weekend numbers are out.
