Kalki Effect: Appreciation Full, Collections Nil

Kill Movie

Kill, starring Lakshya with Raghav Juyal as the ferocious villain, hit theaters on Friday. It was heavily promoted on social media as India’s most violent film by some influencers.

Upon release, the film received positive feedback from the audience. The action sequences, as expected, stood out as the film’s main attraction. These scenes are raw yet stylish, making the storytelling both effective and cinematic, particularly in the second half.

Creative choices turned Kill into an engaging and watchable movie. The cinematography, editing, production design, and VFX departments worked seamlessly with the director to deliver impactful action scenes.

Before its release, Kill also made headlines when Hollywood director Chad Stahelski, known for the John Wick series, acquired the English remake rights.

Despite social media buzz and good reviews, the film struggled at the box office. It opened poorly due to a lack of ground-level hype.

Kill earned about 1.25 crore on its first day, with a slight increase to 2 crores on Saturday, totaling 3.25 crores in two days. It performed better in Mumbai and South India compared to the North and regions like Bihar. Trade analysts believe action movies with newcomers often struggle compared to those featuring big superstars.

The film’s collections are in no way matching the merits of the film.

It performed better in the USA. The first weekend is expected to bring in around 6 crores, with a lifetime total below 20 crores, which is disappointing for such a well-made film.

The biggest reason for Kill facing rejection is the stupendous run of Kalki 2898 AD in the Hindi belts which is doing exceptionally well in its second weekend. Audiences are flocking to see the Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Prabhas starrer Kalki 2898 AD over Kill.
