It is finally confirmed that actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan will star in the Tamil remake of recent Malayalam blockbuster Drishyam. Apparently, Vikram was interested in the film, but the role has finally landed with Kamal, who will fit the bill more suitably than anyone else. The official confirmation on the remake is awaited from the producers of the film.
Apparently, Jeethu Joseph, who had directed the original, will direct the remake as well. While actress Meena made a comeback to the Malayalam industry with Drishyam, one wonders if she will also feature in the Tamil version as well as she was once a popular actress here. The original is still running to packed houses in several parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, and it has turned out to be the biggest box-office hit in the history of Malayalam industry.
The original featured Mohanlal in the title role of a father who covers up a murder to help his family go behind the bars. I don’t think any other actor can play this role with the ease other than Kamal.
