Kantara Ch. 1 BO: Don’t Compare with Rajini or Yash

Gulshan Devaiah on Kantara Chapter 1

Gulshan Devaiah has become a talking point for everyone watching Kantara: Chapter 1. As the film continues its strong run, the actor has spoken about the growing comparisons being made around its box office performance.

He said competition in such situations often turns intense due to PR hype. According to him, it’s natural for industry figures and the public to praise a successful film, and that spirit of appreciation should continue.

The Hate Story actor stressed that storytelling should always come first. He called it unfair to compare Kantara: Chapter 1 with Rajinikanth’s Coolie or Yash’s K.G.F. Chapter 2, pointing out that such stars have their own distinct legacy and track record.

Gulshan also urged filmmakers to stay sincere to their stories and focus on connecting with audiences. He said the real verdict always comes from the public, not from competition or box office rivalry.

He noted that comparing collections has become an unhealthy trend. Even a difference of Rs. 1 crore is now enough for people to declare one film a winner, creating unnecessary division among fans.

This trend has already started with Kantara: Chapter 1, ever since it released in theatres. Many are treating it as a challenge to outperform the first film and end as a bigger blockbuster.

It’s only been a week since the release, and while several new films are lined up, none seem to pose a strong challenge yet. All eyes are now on whether Kantara: Chapter 1 will end up as one of the biggest hits of the year.
