Kantara: Chapter 1 has turned into one of the biggest hits in recent Kannada cinema. While most blockbusters go on grand success tours, this film has stayed quiet. Apart from a few interviews by director Rishab Shetty, there has been little media buzz.
Even with limited promotion, the film has achieved massive numbers. Within 11 days, Kantara: Chapter 1 is set to cross ₹500 crore gross, pushing the Kannada industry to new heights. Analysts expect it to reach ₹600 crore in India and about ₹700 crore worldwide.
The film’s momentum has picked up again in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and the Hindi belt. On Saturday, the Hindi version earned more than double its Friday total. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana also reported strong weekend growth. Promotion continues in the Hindi market, though activity in other regions has slowed down.
Fans believe that with a stronger publicity push, Kantara: Chapter 1 might have gone past ₹800 crore and even touched ₹1000 crore. Still, its performance remains extraordinary given the minimal marketing.
Around Diwali, new youth-focused releases like Dude, Telusu Kada, K Ramp, and Mitra Mandali may bring competition. Overseas, especially in the US, Kantara: Chapter 1 hasn’t fared as well and has faced box office losses.
