The phenomenal opening of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 has proven, yet again, the magic of pan-India sequels. When there’s a blockbuster first part with immense penetration, South films can rake in monstrous openings at the Indian box office.
Baahubali 2, KGF Chapter 2, and now Pushpa 2—these films have all set the box office on fire, particularly in the Hindi belt. Each of them breezed past the 100-crore net mark on day one, making it seem like a walk in the park.

Trade analysts feel that the next big craze waiting to explode onto the scene is Rishab Shetty’s Kantara 2. This film has all the potential to hit a century on day one itself, just like Pushpa 2 did.
Kantara (2022) was a surprise box office sensation. The film didn’t just conquer Karnataka but also made its presence felt in the Hindi belt, pulling in 81.10 crore and becoming a super hit.

Now Kantara 2, titled Kantara: Chapter 1, is expected to take things to the next level. With a fantastic release date of Gandhi Jayanthi holiday, October 2, 2025, the makers are eyeing a jackpot opening.
If the hype sustains after the promotional material comes out, Kantara 2 could easily mint 40-50 crore in Hindi on its first day. Worldwide, it might even gross 150 crore on opening day in all languages. The film can aim for a 500-crore lifetime number in Hindi alone, with worldwide numbers eyeing the 1000 crore mark.

Kantara 2 isn’t just banking on Karnataka’ and Hindi audience. The Telugu states, where the first part was a smash hit, are expected to come out in full force. Other regions are likely to chip in as well due to the franchise factor.
Kantara 2 has the potential to become the second Kannada film to breach the 100-crore net day-one mark after KGF Chapter 2 but a lot will depend on the songs, teaser, and trailer.
