Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is promising that there will not be any power cuts in the state after this summer. He announced that the state will be increasing its Power production from the current 4320MW to 23675MW in 2018.
However all these promises seem to be building castles in air. The government has allocated 7400 Crore in the budget for Energy sector. However 4257 Crore in this will go for Power subsidies. In fact the allocations for Subsidies are very less. It is estimated that subsidies will need 6500 Crore this year.
Along with this, funds are needed in large quantities to purchase power from outside. Considering all these, there will be absolutely Zero funds for the completion of power projects which will enable for Power production increase. These projects will need at least 50000 Crore to complete and government will have to bear at least 20% i.e., 10000 Crore in the next 3 years to achieve the target. So we consider all those tall promises on power as fake.
