Malayalam films are gaining some momentum in the box office of North Indian states too and films like Marco have performed very well there. Empuraan comes from Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran and both have proved their mettle time and again over the years and share a good enough fanbase in the north.
Empuraan is the sequel to Lucifer, one of the most successful films from Mollywood. Lucifer had ended with a cliffhanger and the sequel factor will act in favour of the film. The low buzz can be made up for with word of mouth once the film is released.

It is possible that the low buzz for the movie is for the underwhelming performance of Mohanlal films like ‘Barroz’ and ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’.
In states like Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh too people do not seem to be too enthusiastic about Empuraan release. It will be a pity if the movie fails to reach its expected audience because of the low buzz.

Even though the Empuraan Hype Kerala is strong, the makers need to ensure that the film gets the right promotional strategy to create awareness beyond the Malayalam-speaking audience.
The success of films like KGF and RRR proves that a well-marketed South Indian film can dominate the national box office.
If the filmmakers push for wider promotions, Empuraan Hype Kerala may extend to other regions, increasing its box office potential significantly.
With the right strategy, the film might defy current predictions and establish itself as a major pan-Indian hit.
