Legend has been in censor process for quite some time and finally the whole process is over. The film has been submitted to censor on Saturday itself (with a mono copy) but a final version was shown only yesterday. However it couldn’t get an official censor certificate due to few objections raised by the board. While everyone knew what the rating the film was getting from the board, it’s getting the certificate from them that proved to be a difficult thing.
Legend starring Nandamuri Balakrishna is loaded with political dialogues and situations that could be potentially perceived to having an effect on the viewers (voters). As it’s an electoral rule that no such propagation material be used in media influencing the mindset of the people, the board asked for an elaborate cuts for the censor certificate to be issued. Finally after having discussions for almost a day and half the board and the producers have reached to a consensus now on the evening of March 26th.
So Legend is now officially cleared by censor with an A certificate. The film will hit screens all over on time without any issues assures the makers. But wouldn’t it have been better if they had approached the censor board earlier as they know the kind of content the film contains from beforehand. Were they hoping that in the last minute hurried censor work the board might overlook those obvious propaganda laden dialogues?
We still don’t know the extent of censorship on those dialogues but do you think the board did the right thing by holding them without issuing the certificate for this long? And do you think it is right on part of the production house to hold things in hand till these wee hours?
