Leo Hype: Tamil Critics Becoming Joke

The hype surrounding Vijay’s upcoming film, Leo, in Tamil cinema has reached unprecedented levels, with both critics and trade experts fueling the fervor.

These individuals are taking their narrative to laughable heights, capitalizing on social media’s power, and often making outlandish statements to appease a specific fan base.

The quest for retweets, likes, and an increase in social media influence seems to have led to some rather ridiculous proclamations.

One recent instance showcases this trend, where a critic claimed, “The pressure for Leo tickets is real. Kerala is going to witness the highest number of tourists from Tamil Nadu on October 19th!”

This assertion implies that people would travel to Kerala to secure tickets for “Leo” due to unavailability in Tamil Nadu. Even die-hard fans might find such statements amusing.

Critics who make such assertions seem to be playing to a particular gallery of followers, all in the name of increasing their social media presence and potentially boosting their earnings (Elon Musk recently monetized Twitter/X).

The irony dies a thousand deaths when they claim themselves as critics. If the so-called critics are ordering Leo T-shirts and acting like die-hard fans with these ridiculous comments, how can they review the film in a ‘critical’ sense? No wonder why there are no ‘critic’ reviews in the Tamil industry today, unlike in Telugu.
