Tollywood has always been receptive of college campus dramas as the success rate is substantially higher for these films. However, the issue is that there is a market cap for such campus comedy dramas as they do not turn out to be the coveted hundred crore grosser films.
Back in the day, films like Happy Days, Kerintha and Husharu have worked well at the box office and the common point here is that they are all campus dramas.
One such new addition to the list is Mad, which worked well at the box office. Now the stage is set for the sequel of the film on March 28. The teaser was released yesterday and it promised youthful stuff.
By the looks of it, the sequel is retaining the core characters and peculiar situations from the first part, and the comedy is more slapstick this time around.
However, this brings us to the big question now – Can this film be the big 75 crore or 100 crore grosser for Tollywood? Can it break the existing market cap on campus dramas and youthful comedies which is largely downsized?
The sequel advantage and the amplifier production scale will obviously help the cause here. The real responsibility is on the final product to deliver winning stuff, and once this is sorted, Mad Square has a pretty good prospect at the box office.
Things can get really interesting for this film at the box office if the desired word of mouth is generated.
