Maharaja China BO: Quite Unexpected Response

Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja was able to gross more than Rs. 100 crores at the box office with a minimal budget. Following its success in India, the Tamil thriller is all set to create new records after its release in China on Friday, November 29.

Coming to the collections, the film accumulated Rs. 5.4 crores from early screenings alongside Rs. 4.65 crores on day one.

It was able to sell 100,000 tickets and continued to maintain its position despite facing some competition.

Maharaja arrived in China alongside Gladiator II and Her Story. However, around 32,621 shows have been organized for Vijay’s film, which means that a major portion of the audience is still interested in watching it.

The film’s release in China is said to be a way to make the relationship between both countries stronger compared to how it has been over the years. The current box office reports have hinted that things are finally getting better.

On the other hand, Maharaja has opened a path for films of every language from India to earn a lot of profit after their release in China.

Considering that various big-budget projects are on the way in the next two years, they have a chance to recover some losses in China in case they turn out to be a failure in India.




Maharaja was helmed by Nithilan Saminathan and also featured Mamta Mohandas and Anurag Kashyap among the lead cast members.
