Mahesh Babu and Vijay Ponniyin Selvan discussion

Following the failure of Mr X, Arya is returning with a bilingual film Ananthan Kaadu directed by Murali Gopy, which is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on June 25th.

With only a few days left until its release, Arya is currently promoting the film through interviews and by participating in events. Arya stated that, after acquiring the rights for Ponniyin Selvan, Mani Ratnam started the pre-production work for the film in 2010. At that time, his initial choices for the cast were Mahesh Babu, Vijay and himself.

Furthermore, he mentioned that it did not materialise at that time due to various issues and later, after 10 years, when Mani Ratnam finally started the production for Ponniyin Selvan, he changed the cast.

This revelation from Arya has surprised Kollywood audiences and many people have started responding that if Ponniyin Selvan had happened at that time with Vijay and Mahesh Babu playing the lead roles, it could have been the biggest project in Indian cinema ever made.

They also suggest that if Mahesh Babu and Vijay had acted in Ponniyin Selvan, it would have collected more than 1000 crores even at that time and might have been an iconic film of South Indian cinema. However, unfortunately, it did not happen and there is no longer any possibility for the stars to collaborate on it.

Ultimately, Arya’s revelation regarding Mani Ratnam’s initial casting for Ponniyin Selvan continues to go viral on social media and many people are sharing their reactions to it.
