Satya Dev’s psychological thriller Rao Bahadur, directed by Venkatesh Maha and presented by Mahesh Babu and Namrata Shirodkar’s GMB Entertainment, is slated for a theatrical release in a couple of days on July 3rd. The film has already built significant buzz through its striking promotional campaign.

Satya Dev describes Rao Bahadur as an emotionally rich psychological drama layered with magical realism and dark comedy, explaining that its visual storytelling creates an entirely new cinematic experience. He played the enigmatic Ramappa which demanded complete transformation, both physically and mentally.

“I always wanted to attempt a performance like the ones Kamal Haasan, Vikram, and Suriya have delivered in their careers. This film finally gave me that opportunity.”

His transformation involved five hours of makeup every day, extensive prosthetics, and long shooting schedules. “More than the prosthetics, it was my mental preparation that mattered. I embraced the character completely, and at one point, it genuinely felt like Ramappa had taken over me.”

Set between the 1960s and 1990s, the narrative follows a wandering protagonist returning to his palace, Bhuvanalayam, where deeply layered psychological mysteries unfold. Interestingly, Satya Dev pointed out that while the film contains no conventional action scenes, it features emotionally explosive performances and visually ambitious songs, including two dance numbers for which he trained in Salsa.

Satya Dev shared that Mahesh Babu and Namrata watched the film together and spent nearly forty minutes discussing it afterward, while Sukumar also appreciated the film’s originality.

One of the highlights of the project for the actor remains Mahesh Babu’s narration. “I had once shared screen space with Mahesh Babu, though my scene never appeared in the final film. Today, hearing him introduce Rao Bahadur through his powerful voiceover is a dream come true. His contribution is absolutely priceless.”

Calling the film a theatrical visual spectacle that offers complete value for every moviegoer, Satya Dev expressed unwavering confidence that Rao Bahadur will introduce Telugu audiences to a bold new experience and emerge as a major commercial success.
