For director Maruthi, The Raja Saab continues to be a never-ending source of trolling. Even after many months of its release, a simple profile picture update from the director was enough to bring the old anger back on social media.
The Raja Saab arrived in January 2026 with massive expectations. Made on a reported budget of around Rs. 400-450 crores, the fantasy horror-comedy was expected to become a big Sankranti entertainer. Instead, the film reportedly ended its theatrical run with less than Rs. 200 crores worldwide and received extremely negative word of mouth. It turned out to be a nightmare for Prabhas fans.
Prabhas fans were furious with the film. They were waiting for Maruthi to come online so they could vent their anger at him.
After a long time, Maruthi was back with a new post, updating his profile picture. That was enough to reopen the Raja Saab wounds. Prabhas fans did not want to miss the chance and took their trolling to another level on X.
Some of the comments were savage:
“You used AI and face-swap for the entire Raja Saab. Why stop at the movie? Make the sequel with ChatGPT.”
“Direction already done with AI. Now even the profile pic is AI.”
“After Raja Saab he edited his own face with AI. Respect the dedication.”
Some mocked him for allegedly making a movie with AI, while others sarcastically asked him to make Raja Saab 2.
Prabhas fans also blamed Maruthi for turning Prabhas into troll material on a pan-India level. They feel they never faced such humiliation even with Adipurush. The alleged use of face-swapping technology for Prabhas in even basic scenes and dance steps was brutally mocked. Many also believe Maruthi extracted one of the worst performances from Prabhas.
Until Maruthi delivers a strong comeback, it looks like every selfie, post and profile picture from the director will continue to attract the same question from the Rebels:
First answer for The Raja Saab, then talk.
