The first single Tu Mera Lover from Ravi Teja’s Mass Jathara has generated buzz — not just for its copied tune, but for making Telugu cinema history. It marks the first AI-generated song in Tollywood, featuring the recreated voice of late composer-singer Chakri.
Chakri was instrumental in shaping Ravi Teja’s musical identity during the early 2000s, delivering cult hits in films like Idiot, Itlu Sravani Subramanyam, and Amma Nanna O Tamil Ammayi. Years after his passing, his voice has now been digitally revived, creating an emotional moment for fans.

Music director Bheems, along with the team, used AI technology to simulate Chakri’s iconic massy vocals, building the track with a nostalgic vibe reminiscent of Choopultho Gucchi Gucchi Champake from Idiot.
While the attempt deserves appreciation for its sentiment and innovation, the final output has left a lot to be desired.

Although Ravi Teja delivers his trademark high energy, some fans feel that the AI-generated voice lacks Chakri’s raw spark and similarity to his voice which is crucial. That’s where it failed big time.
At times, it didn’t sound like Chakri and was jarring. Moreover, the audio quality and clarity could have been better, especially in certain parts of the song where the words don’t sound sharp.

Nevertheless, this step opens exciting doors. The possibility of hearing legendary voices like SP Balasubramanyam, Ghantasala, and many others who have departed in new-age compositions is no longer a fantasy — it’s a future inching closer with each experiment.
