Mirai Strong in U.S., Weekend Headed for $1.3M+

Mirai U.S. box office opening weekend

Mirai opened to strong appreciation for a small team delivering such an ambitious attempt with a refreshing story and impactful visuals. Though the film has its flaws, the sincerity and scale of the effort are dominating everything and audience praise continues to grow.

At the U.S. box office, Mirai collected $394K from premieres and is heading toward another $400K+ on day 1 Friday. That means premiere plus Day 1 numbers will cross $800K. Advance bookings are solid and Saturday is expected to be the biggest day for Mirai. If trends hold, the film could collect $400K+ on Saturday, showing a healthy hold.

Including Sunday, which is usually a slower day for Telugu films, the first weekend total is projected around $1.3 Million+. With no major releases in the next two weeks, Mirai enjoys a clear advantage that could help extend its strong run at the box office.

So far, the numbers are almost entirely driven by the Telugu version. The Hindi release is on very limited screens in the U.S. and has contributed only a small share. Still, considering the premiere figures and current trajectory, the film has registered a powerful start. The crucial test will come in the second weekend, which will decide how far Mirai can go.
