To put it in film terms, recent release The Kerala Stories is going bonkers at the box office despite weak reviews. This is all thanks to the controversy on its content.
This could well be applied in the case of Adipurush as well. While a large section, particularly the Hindu segment will be in favour of the film, there could be some controversy pertaining to the presentation of Ravan character, as was seen during the film’s teaser release.
Even earlier today, there was a report that a man filed a complaint against Adipurush at the censor board, asking to ban the film for wrongly portraying Ravan in the teaser.
Controversies like these will only help Adipurush in a big way. More the controversy, more the reach, and thus, more the money. This will work well for the fil, which has now gained positivity through the trailer.
Adipurush will always have the backing of the Hindutva wave no matter what. Add that to a hint of controversy or boycott movement which is now famous in Bollywood, we have ourselves a recipe for box office bonanza.
The recent case of Pathaan also shows the same. All the controversy about Deepika’s revealing clothing in the film only helped in getting it more traction. The case of Kerala Stories also demonstrates this. Adipurush too can be benefited by this track if there’s one big controversy ahead of its release.
