This year August 15th is a very Good Date since August 15th is Thursday and a National Holiday. That means there is three holidays in the first weekend which is very good.
Ram’s Double iSmart and two small films – GA2 Pictures’ AAY, and Suresh Productions’ 35 are releasing on August 15th.
A dubbing film, Vikram’s Thangalaan is also announced for an August 15th release.
Meanwhile, there are rumors in the industry about Ravi Teja’s Mr Bachchan also joining the race.
Rumors are flying thick that OTT Platform is arm-twisting Mr Bachchan’s team to arrive on August 15th as they have a slot available.
It is an open secret in the industry that the OTT Platforms, these days, give their available slots to filmmakers and they have to choose one.
Meanwhile, a source close to the team tells us that the ‘arm-twisting’ part is not right.
“August 15th is one of the available slots with the OTT and it is a good date. We are yet to complete the work. Two songs are to be shot. The shoot got delayed because of the bad weather. One song shoot is currently underway and the other one will follow. We are also in for the August 15th release. The announcement will follow,” the source told us.
If all the announced films stick to their plan, the audience will have too many choices for that weekend.
Either Double iSmart or Mr. Bachchan may have to opt for premieres a day before to take the first advantage. The chances are very slim for Double iSmart for obvious reasons.
Mr. Bachchan is one project whose success is important to the hero, director, and the production house equally after a success drought.
