Kalki 2898AD

Three major Pan-India film releases are on the brink of postponement, with Devara already confirmed to shift from its initial April 5th slot. An official confirmation is awaited though.

The other two, Pushpa 2 and Kalki, might also be postponed. NTR’s Devara, initially set for April 5th, may now eye the August 15th slot, while Prabhas’ Kalki faces a potential delay from its May 9th release. Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 might move to the Christmas weekend from August 15th date.

Speculations abound, and if Kalki sticks to its May 9th release, it will mark Prabhas’ third consecutive year to start the release of big-budget Pan-India films. In 2022, Radheshyam set the trend, followed by Adipurush in 2023. Both films turned out to be disappointing. There are hopes that Prabhas gets lucky third time and starts pan-India line up of Telugu films in a positive way this year.

With Devara’s postponement, Kalki 2898AD is poised to become the first release among the top-tier Telugu heroes, aiming for a solo summer debut on May 9th. The summer season is one of the most lucrative periods for Telugu films and Tollywood shouldn’t waste it like last year and Kalki should aim to release on May 9.

Despite potential delays for Devara, Pushpa 2, and Kalki, the buzz around these big-budget Pan-Indian films remains high. The impact of their release date shuffles extends to other films, but the makers have promised world-class films that are sure to take Indian cinema forward.

Let’s hope producers of all the pan-Indian biggies confirm their release dates soon and avoid the last-minute delays as seen with Salaar last year.
