Director Parasuram is extremely fortunate to have a project backed by a producer like Dil Raju and to have a hero like Vijay Deverakonda at his disposal.
Setting aside what went wrong in “Family Star,” there is one particular scene that has been heavily trolled and criticized by almost everyone who watched the film.
Govradhan, Vijay Deverakonda’s character, needs money, and there is a scene where a group of American women, who appear to be prostitutes, attempts to grab him in New York downtown. Parasuram comfortably conceived this scene.
The entire episode, including its writing and presentation, seemed awkward. As we mentioned in our review, how did it even make it into the final cut of the film?
Also, there is another extremely vulgar scene with a dialogue where Vijay warns Ravi Babu by saying if he wants to sleep with the women from Ravi Babu’s family, he doesn’t even need a roof; he can do it anywhere, blah blah. This is another awful writing; the hero preaches to kids a second before about morals, etc., and then he speaks this filthy dialogue within a minute infront of them.
Along with this, there are a few other scenes, like using CG work for a dosa, that are criticized. However, this particular prostitution episode in downtown New York will haunt even Vijay for acting in it and not rejecting the idea.
This happens in a movie titled ‘Family Star,’ preaching values for the middle class. How did even an experienced producer like Dil Raju fail to see these?
