Ponniyin Selvan Off To A Good Start in U.S.

Ponniyin Selvan USA Pre-SalesLegendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s ambitious project, Ponniyin Selvan – Part 1 has raised some curiosity among the audience due to its scale and storytelling. The film is slated to hit the screens across the globe on September 30th.

According to trade reports, the film is off to a good start in the overseas market. The advance sales for PS-1 have already generated over $300K. Still, there’s one week left for the release, and the bookings will only improve from this start. The film is expected to take an opening of around 600-700K on its first day (including premieres) in the US which will be a good result for a Tamil film. Sarigama Cinemas known to give the biggest possible release in the U.S. is distributing this film.

The makers are neglecting promotions in Telugu and Hindi as of now, but if they can hype the film in a better way in the coming days then the film might surprise the trade, especially in Telugu.

Telugu audience has always appreciated films with unique content irrespective of language, the recent example being Brahmastra.

PS-1 stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Prakash Raj, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, and, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and such a big star cast is also one of the reasons for the film to have some curiosity on the ground level.

Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions have jointly produced PS-1 which is touted as the story of the greatest Indian empire, the Chola Kingdom.
